LIVESTREAM: Queen’s Choral Ensemble and Polyhymnia Choir Concert

2021-22 DAN School of Drama and Music
Digital Concert Hall
Sunday, Nov 28, 2021 at 2:30 PM (ET)

The Choral Ensemble is a large mixed voice ensemble rehearsing throughout the year, performing several public concerts annually. The ensemble has had the opportunity to sing regularly with the Kingston Symphony Orchestra, Queen’s Symphony Orchestra, and last year had the chance to participate in a workshop with the Canadian Chamber Choir. Previous significant works performed have included Faure’s Requiem, Orff’s, Carmina Burana, and Jenkins’ The Armed Man. The ensemble also focuses on contemporary and Canadian works, performing repertoire by Lauridsen, Rutter, Whitacre, and Runestad, to name a few. The ensemble regularly performs at Queen’s University Remembrance Day Services and has also presented music at important Queen’s events, such as the installation of our Principle and Chancellor.

The DAN School of Drama & Music is delighted to be back on campus learning and performing together. As our first semester back together nears its end, we are incredibly excited to present ensemble performances this November and December at the beautiful Isabel Bader Center for the Performing Arts.

While the Queen's community has benefitted greatly by applying the Safe Return to Campus Framework this fall, the time for diligence and caution has not passed. While our students have been able to rehearse and perform together, we are taking a prudent approach to public performance this fall. Given the ongoing nature of the COVID-19 pandemic and the current rising cases in Ontario, all of our upcoming concerts will be live-streamed so that as broad an audience as possible can enjoy them. We look forward to this exciting milestone and thank you for your patience until we can safely welcome you to campus again for in-person concerts. In the meantime, please enjoy our livestreamed performances.
