Ukraine was struck, and the world is horrified. Artists want to support Ukraine through the music and visual arts.
The Isabel Bader Center for the Performing Arts will present a concert to raise funds for humanitarian purposes in Ukraine. This concert will be hosted by veteran broadcaster Eric Friesen and RMC Professor and author, Lubomyr Luciuk, will be addressing the audience. Performers will include the Gryphon Trio, PALENAI Piano Duo, Kingston Symphony Youth Orchestra members, the Dalbec-Szczesniak Duo, Victor Mishalow, and more. This program will highlight the music of Ukrainian and Ukrainian/Canadian composers, as well as Ukrainian artists and photographers who represent the oppression and violence in their works.
This concert will be live streamed on the Isabel Digital Concert Hall and on the Isabel’s Facebook page. But nothing beats the power of the live event. The concert organisers hope to connect with music schools and musicians in Ukraine to share the message coming from Kingston.
Net concert proceeds will go to the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Humanitarian Appeal (https://www.ucc.ca/2022/02/24/ukraine-humanitarian-appeal-update/) in order to get humanitarian assistance into the country. The audience will also be encouraged to make a donation for humanitarian appeals for Ukraine during this time (please see below).
Sincere thanks go to Adrienne Shannon, Joy Innis, Roman Borys and the Gryphon Trio, Gisèle Dalbec Szczesniak, and Lubomyr Luciuk for all their time and talent in organizing this fundraising concert and to all the artists for their donation of services - and most of all, for all their commitment to providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine during this violent time in its history.
